Is it even possible to become more like Jesus?

Is it even possible to become more like Jesus?

How can I even start measuring up to Jesus’ instructions in the Sermon on the Mount?

The bad news: I can’t.

The good news is that he invites me to let him guide me in accomplishing what I was never able to accomplish myself.

What a fantastic story!

Practicing The Way

Like many others, I read John Mark Comer’s compelling book “Practicing The Way.”

Even if there’s no single, one-size-fits-all  “method” or “framework,” I still think he provides a useful roadmap for building apprenticeship to Jesus.

So, my warmest recommendation!

Comer is influenced by Dallas Willard. Willard is one of my heroes as well.

I would like to share a quote I’ve been thinking about lately.

It is about the Gospel being the world's hope, and this can only happen when we surrender to Jesus and let him change our hearts and minds.

As Christians, we know that we should become like Jesus - so we try to act differently. But changing our outward behaviour doesn’t change our hearts. Only God’s grace can do that

Then he continues:

"The greatest issue facing the world today, with all its heartbreaking needs, is whether those who, by profession or culture, are identified as ‘Christians’ will become disciples – students, apprentices, practitioners – of Jesus Christ, steadily learning from him how to live the life of the Kingdom of the Heavens into every corner of human existence."

- Dallas Willard

What an epic story! I'll let that ring in the back of my head throughout the day.

Have a great week!
